About the Artist

" I'm inspired by nature's visceral beauty, I'm drawn to the outdoors for inspiration and insight. I find that nature provides me with endless compositions to paint and countless color combinations to interpret. I am fortunate to live steps away from a Wilderness Preserve where I can create and express these observations in real time amongst the wildlife that surrounds me on a daily basis. My passion is to recreate the surrounding landscape into works filled with light, color, texture and form."
Brief Art Bio
Jeannine Savedra is a Southern California painter and art insrutctor with over twenty years of professional experience. She was born in Los Angeles and currently resides in the foothills of San Gabriel Valley where she grew up. She studied art in Los Angeles and received formal art training at Otis Art Institute, Parsons School of Design and California State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art, a Master's degree in Arts & Humanities and a Teaching Credential in Art.
She first began teaching as a Studio Art Instructor at the Visual Arts and Design Academy where she taught drawing, painting and design at the Pasadena campus. While teaching during the day, she was also in the studio honing her painting skills and developing the techniques and methods necessary to do fine art restoration at the St. Gaudens Studio in Pasadena.
In '03 she began working part time at Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles as a Teaching Supervisor and Adjunct Faculty through 2015 and then went on to teach at the California School of the Arts-Visual Arts Conservatory.
In addition to being an Art Instructor she also worked as a Restoration Artist with the Maurine St. Gaudens Studio and for twenty years she did the painting restoration on over 2,000 oil paintings for art collectors, art dealers, galleries and museums, including numerous works in the permanent art collections of the Pasadena Museum of History, Cal Tech, the Moulton Museum in Laguna Hills, San Gabriel Country Club and the Sam Hyde Harris Estate.
Throughout the years of working as a studio painter, fine art restorer and art instructor Jeannine has garnered a comprehensive knowledge and versatility with color, brushwork and style that distinguishes her approach to painting. Presently, she spends much of her time painting outdoors and in the studio where she is likely restoring a work of art, teaching a lesson or putting the final touches on a painting for an upcoming exhibition. Currently her work is exhibited in local galleries, juried shows and museum exhibitions. For a complete resume and further inquiries, please contact the artist.
